Meet Your Instructor: Sarah Helten

Sarah is a passionate artist and experienced educator with a deep commitment to nurturing creativity in children and adults alike. As the Artist in Residence for the Surrey School District, she brings years of experience conducting art classes and workshops for all ages in Langley and Maple Ridge community centers. Sarah also volunteers with schools in Maple Ridge and Surrey, sharing her love for art and self-expression.

Through her classes, Sarah helps students connect their minds, bodies, and spirits to their artistic creations, fostering empowerment and self-discovery. Her teaching philosophy revolves around creating a safe, welcoming space for every child to explore their imagination and develop their skills.

When she’s not teaching, Sarah finds inspiration and healing in nature, where she recharges her creative energy. She cherishes spending time with her family and friends and believes in living dreams and embracing the transformative power of art.

What materials are included or needed?

Sarah provides all materials—just bring yourself and wear clothes that are okay to get paint on them!

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

No refunds are provided for missed classes. If the entire session is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, participants will be notified, and refunds or credits will be issued as applicable.

What if my child has no prior art experience?

No experience is necessary! This class is designed for children of all skill levels to explore and enjoy art in a supportive environment.

What is the class size?

Classes are kept small to ensure personalized attention. Maximum class size is 8.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable clothing that’s okay to get a little messy!

Is the class drop-off or should I stay?

This is a drop-off class. Parents can leave and return at pick-up time unless otherwise specified.

What happens if a class is cancelled?

If a session is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather, instructor availability), it will be rescheduled or a credit will be provided.

What age group is this class designed for?
