SUMMER ART CAMP - Registration
AUGUST 18 - 22 | 1-4pm
Give your child a summer of creativity, confidence, and calm! A small-group, student-led art and mindfulness camp in Maple Ridge for teens ages 14+. Each day blends hands-on art, movement, soothing techniques, and nature exploration inspired by the elements—Earth, Air, Fire, and Water—helping kids express themselves, build resilience, and connect with others. Guided by an experienced educator, your child will discover new skills, make friends, return home empowered and inspired.

- Painting Level: Beginner to Advanced
- Ideal For: Teens aged 14+
- Session Length: 3 hours each day
- Location: Albion area, Maple Ridge, BC
Sample Daily Rhythm:
1:00 pm – Welcome & Mindful Arrival
Gentle movement, music, breathwork, visualization, and intention setting to start the day grounded and focused.
1:15 pm – Creative Art Exploration
Guided art projects using a variety of materials (painting, collage, sculpture, mixed media) inspired by daily themes.
2:15 pm – Snack & Social Time
A relaxed break to connect with new friends and recharge.
2:30 pm – Expressive Movement or Nature Walk
Short movement session or mindful walk to spark imagination and release energy.
3:00 pm – Mindful Art - Free flow or finish a project
Personal reflection and creative time to build self-awareness and emotional expression.
3:30 pm – Collaborative Art & Calm Down Circle
Group project or sharing circle to foster community, gratitude, and calm.
4:00 pm – Pick-up

Meet Your Instructor: Sarah Helten
Sarah is a passionate artist and experienced educator with a deep commitment to nurturing creativity in children and adults alike. As the Artist in Residence for the Surrey School District, she brings years of experience conducting art classes and workshops for all ages in Langley and Maple Ridge community centers. Sarah also volunteers with schools in Maple Ridge and Surrey, sharing her love for art and self-expression.
Through her classes, Sarah helps students connect their minds, bodies, and spirits to their artistic creations, fostering empowerment and self-discovery. Her teaching philosophy revolves around creating a safe, welcoming space for every child to explore their imagination and develop their skills.
When she’s not teaching, Sarah finds inspiration and healing in nature, where she recharges her creative energy. She cherishes spending time with her family and friends and believes in living dreams and embracing the transformative power of art.

Summer Calm & Create Camp is a week-long, small group art and mindfulness camp where children are empowered to explore creativity, self-expression, and personal growth through the lens of the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water. Our student-led, integrated approach connects art, science, movement, and emotional learning in a nurturing environment that feels like home.

What should my child bring?
- Nut free snack, water bottle
- Clothes that can get messy or a cover up (art is hands-on!)
- Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, for outdoor/ nature activities
- Any personal items or comfort items labeled with your child’s name
- All art supplies are provided, if you want to bring some from home, that is welcome!
Is the program inclusive?
Calm and Create Sessions strive to Accommodate diverse needs. Please contact us to discuss your child’s specific requirements.
Is there outdoor time?
Yes! Mindful nature walks, play, activities, and art are also planned outside daily.
What is the investment?
- $225 / week
- Sibling price is $197 per child
- Referral bonus: when a friend registers receive 15% off your next session
What is your refund policy?
- No refunds, under special circumstances, you may request a credit.
- If the instructor cancels, a makeup session will be scheduled.
What if my child misses a day or we are running late?
- No refunds or partial credits for missed days, under special circumstances a make up class can be scheduled if possible by request.
- Please notify as soon as possible if you’re running late for drop-off and pick-up. There are other classes that need to be prepared for.
Who leads the Sessions and what safety measures are in place?
Sarah Helten is an experienced educator, and fellow parent. Background includes and is not limited to: BCRPA certified trainer and fitness leader, instructor for special needs lessons in Calgary AB, Postpartum and Pregnancy loss doula, Artist in Residence for the Surrey School District. A safe, clean, home studio environment, following all local health guidelines. First Aid and Emergency procedures trained.
